From time to time there are always sports genre comics and anime, especially sports that are quite popular in Japan such as basketball . There are lots of anime titles that tell the story of basketball. Some of them have also been quite popular in Indonesia since the 2000s.
Starting from Slam Dunk and Dear Boys, to the Kuroko no Basket era in the 2010s. One by one, these anime became entertainment for basketball lovers in Indonesia. Now, there is another basketball anime titled Ahiru no Sora which started airing since October 2, 2019. Here is INDOSPORT’s review for the Ahiru no Sora anime.
Synopsis
Ahiru no Sora tells the story of a high school student named Sora Kuramatani who promised his mother, a former athlete from the Japanese Women’s National Team, that he would achieve success in an inter-high school tournament.
However, Sora’s dream had to go through a difficult path because the boys’ basketball team at Kuzuryu High School where he attended was on hiatus and was not accepting new members. From there, Sora’s adventure to keep his promise to his mother to excel at Inter-High begins.
Plot and Characters
After Sora tries to revive the Kusuryu High School basketball team, one by one the characters emerge. Starting from the female basketball team members, the stern teacher, and the manager.
The plot of the story in this film is presented in a forward flow with occasional flashback scenes about the lives of several of the characters in the past.
Soundtrack
The opening soundtrack of the anime Ahiru no Sora is titled ‘Happy Go Ducky’ and sung by The Pillows. The rhythm of this opening song is a bit reminiscent of the Digimon Adventure soundtrack in the 90s.
For a sports genre anime soundtrack, the tempo of this song could be said to be not too fast. This song also doesn’t resonate with the ears and is difficult to remember.
In contrast to the opening of the Kuroko no Basket anime titled ‘Can Do’ which is fast-paced and energetic and the lyrics are easier to sing.
Lack
One of the drawbacks of the Ahiru no Sora anime is that some of the story plots are quite forced and happen by chance.
When a story wants to introduce a new character, there is an element of accident or coincidence in the story.
Excess
The advantage of the Ahiru no Sora anime, especially when compared to Kuroko no Basket, is its comedy. Several characters in Ahiru no Sora are very entertaining with their behavior both on and off the field.
Every character has the potential to be comedically entertaining, including supporting characters who only appear once.
Currently, Ahiru no Sora has run for 10 episodes and the story of each episode is getting more exciting.
