The Forced Quirk Activation Quirk is perfectly named, being an invisible Quirk that simply forces the activation of someone else’s Quirk, usually with a touch. All For One first used Forced Activation Quirk in Kamino Ward, channeling it through the Rivet Stab Quirk while harmlessly impaling Magne with the latter Quirk. That manually activated Magne’s own Magnetism Quirk even though Magne was unconscious, magnetizing all the male villains toward Himiko Toga so that group could be pushed through the Warp Gate Quirk.
Notably, Forced Quirk Activation can be used even if the target is unconscious, and as expected, this Quirk can be used against the target’s will. The main limitation is that the user must know how the target’s own Quirk functions in order to force its activation, so typically, this Quirk will be used on an ally or perhaps even a known enemy.
This devastating Quirk is one of All For One’s most potent techniques, though using it comes at a cost, which is why the symbol of evil didn’t use it more often in My Hero Academia‘s story. Impure Beam will charge up in the user’s hand, then fire a powerful beam of dazzling light that can deal serious damage to any target, even a massive character like Gigantomachia as Season 7 of the anime clearly showed. Firing this Quirk will strain the user’s body, and since All For One was operating on borrowed time, he was cautious about using this Quirk. When using Impure Beam, All For One stressed his body and accelerated his reverse-aging, ensuring he wouldn’t use this incredible Quirk too often.
Search is one of the most recent additions to All For One’s Quirk collection, and it’s one of the few Quirks where anime fans know the original owner and saw the consequences of Quirk theft. The Search Quirk originally belonged to Ragdoll, a member of the Wild, Wild Pussycats team, pro heroes who use their Quirks to perform search and rescue operations. Since Search can locate someone whom the user has observed before, it’s excellent for search and rescue, which may have helped inspire the Quirk’s name. Many people can be tracked at once with Search, so the user can keep tabs on an entire team or group of people if need be. In Season 3’s events, meanwhile, All For One stole Search from Ragdoll, a process that left her traumatized.
That experience left Ragdoll Quirkless, and it clearly disoriented and exhausted her to have Search removed from her against her will. What is more, the loss of her Quirk not only rendered Ragdoll unable to do her job as a pro hero, but it also upset her greatly, dampening her normally cheerful, carefree persona. It took time for Ragdoll to accept what happened and resume her usual good cheer as a civilian. Elsewhere, in All For One’s hands, Search was used so the symbol of evil could confirm that the pro heroes were far away from Yuga Aoyama’s meeting place, only for the pro heroes to fool All For One by teleporting to the battlefield with Warp Gate, proving that Search can be foiled with Quirk trickery.
