I like the title of this anime. Fun and full of learning.

I like the romance story, I like the action and fighting parts, I like the character conflict part, I like the image and visual style, and I like the story of struggle and the moral message that is conveyed. About living in harmony together, not oppressing each other because of differences, the sacrifice of a leader for his people, royalty, wisdom… there are many. Cape write one by one.

The story could be said to be very smooth… But, it’s not that perfect. The obstacles for characters facing conflict are too easy to overcome. Especially for Sariphi.

That’s all, luckily I was able to find anime that wasn’t the isekai genre and was good. The rating for the anime Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts season 1 from me is 8.5/10 the king’s wrath for his loved ones. Oh yes, I always label it ‘season’, which doesn’t mean there will be a sequel, but because anime is released seasonally or in certain seasons, it makes it easy for me to differentiate it from anime that is released regularly every week.

Howl’s Moving Castle is adapted from the English novel by Diana Wynne Jones of the same title.

Howl’s Moving Castle is one of the highest grossing films in Japan and on September 5 2004 premiered at the Venice Film Festival. So it’s not surprising that this film was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006. If you are interested in the film, let’s first read the synopsis and review here.

Sophie is an 18 year old girl and the daughter of a hat craftsman in her father’s hat shop. Actually she is a beautiful girl, but she is always insecure. Sophie always thought that she was not beautiful and attractive, unlike her sister, Lattice.

One day, Sophie was on her way to Lattice who worked at another shop and met a handsome wizard who was the talk of all the girls. His name is Howl. Howl is being chased by another wizard who finally manages to escape and takes Sophie to the shop where Lattice works.

Lattice reminds Sophie to be careful of Howl, because there are rumors that Howl eats the hearts of beautiful women. But Sophie doesn’t think she’s beautiful, so she doesn’t worry about that.

It turns out that the witch who tried to catch Howl was The Witch of Waste . In the evening he went to Sophie’s shop to ask for a hat to be made. But Sophie refused on the grounds that the shop was closed. The witch was angry and cursed Sophie to become a 90 year old old woman, but Sophie couldn’t tell anyone about the curse.

Not wanting to shock her mother and sister, Sophie decided to leave the house and find a way to get rid of the curse by going to the Waste or the valley where the witches were dumped. In the valley, Sophie met a scarecrow who she managed to help and then gave him a stick to help him stand.

The scarecrow then takes him to Howl’s moving castle where he finally meets a fire demon named Calcifer and Howl’s assistant Markl. Sophie also offered to be a cleaner at the castle.

It turns out that the castle has a magical door that is controlled by Calcifer. Every time the castle doorbell rings, Calcifer will give a warning and Markl will disguise himself as an old man.

At the sound of the first bell, someone came to ask where the magician Jenkins was. However, when Markl opened the door a second time, Sophie saw different people and places. The person asked about the Pendragon wizard. Sophie thought why were there Jenkins and Pendragon in that castle? Even though here it is only inhabited by Howl, the castle owner, Markl and Calcifer.

He was curious and opened the doorknob repeatedly which took him to different places. While he was still amazed, Howl came from behind the door. So, who is Howl? Pendragon or Jenkins? Can Howl help Sophie break the curse put on her by the exiled witch?

An Imaginative Masterpiece

This film is the best film. It features strong female characters, beautiful witches, curses and villains. The most interesting element of this film is Howl’s moving castle which is Steampunk style and has a unique design because it is supported by two legs like chicken claws.

We will find several details such as breakfast and lunch which are packaged like eating at a fast food restaurant, even though we find them in a castle which usually serves luxurious royal-style food. These things give an eccentric feel to the film.

Reporting from the Loud and clear review website , Miyazaki presented the opening of the film beautifully. The scene begins with the appearance of the castle from behind thick fog. The castle moves places by jumping up and down.

The appearance of the castle from a distance in a natural setting has been used in many other Studio Ghibli films, most notably in Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind (1984 ) and Laputa – Castle in the Sky (1986) . In this film we can see foreign objects appearing from a distance naturally. Miyazaki uses this type of opening part of a film most often.

There is also a unique imaginative character in Calcifier, the Fire Demon who eats egg shells and food scraps. Despite being a fire demon with great strength, he still likes to complain and likes praise.

There is also the character Howl who is said to be a great wizard who is also unique. He will secrete green mucus when he feels frustrated. In the film, Howl is told that he is frustrated when his hair changes color because he thinks it makes him less handsome. Howl spits out his mucus and makes everyone in the castle think it’s too much or too much.

A film that is different from the original novel

This film, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, is different from the novel version. The storyline is similar, but the film version is spiced up with Miyazaki style. The film version tells the story of Sophie whose character experiences development.

But this film is still extraordinary.

The most iconic visual transformation is when Howl becomes a large bird. Then The Witch of the Waste underwent a transformation using her magic to become a young woman, although in the end she returned to being a helpless old woman when she lost her magic powers.

This transformation is shown in beautiful visuals, enriching the story with many magical elements. What’s more important is that these transformations add diversity to the characters in the film.

Totoro himself is not a traditional Japanese character, but a character created by Hayao Miyazaki as well as the icon and mascot of Studio Ghibli. Totoro looks like a mixture of several animals: 梟 (fukuro / owl), 猫 (neko / cat), and 狸 (tanuki / raccoon dog).

Many people think that Totoro is a tree spirit or rabbit spirit, but it turns out that Totoro is a Japanese Genderuwo.
