Suzume, a 17 year old girl, lives in southwest Japan, precisely in a quiet town called Kyūshū. One time, he met a young man named Souta who was walking around looking for doors. Suzume then followed Souta’s footsteps.
He found a weathered door standing tall amidst the ruins of the mountains. It was as if the door was the only thing left of the ruins. Out of curiosity, Suzume reached for the door and suddenly her body was pulled into the door.
This mysterious door is the beginning of the story. Not long after, other doors began to open one after another in various corners of Japan. An open door will bring disaster from the other side and destroy all of Japan, so the door must be closed.
Souta, whose mission was to close the open door, failed to carry out his task because he transformed into a chair. Through Suzume’s presence, the two of them go on an adventure throughout Japan to close open doors to prevent disaster from happening.
