The tragic love story of Yuta Okkotsu and his childhood friend Rika is widely considered to be one of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s most memorable (yet heartbreaking) arcs. Now, JJK fans outside of Japan can purchase the real-life version of Yuta Okkotsu’s engagement ring.
Meccha Japan, an online retailer that features goods from a myriad of popular anime franchises, recently began accepting preorders for Yuta’s engagement ring, produced by Bandai. Like its animated counterpart, it is a modest silver band embedded with a single crystal. It also comes with a 45 cm-long brass plated chain, allowing it to be worn around the neck. Meccha Japan, which caters to both domestic and international markets, offers worldwide shipping. Accordingly, listed prices are displayed in the predominant currency of the customer’s region. At the time of writing, the retail price for Yuta’s ring is US$172.95.
Bandai Releases New JJK Replica Engagement Ring for International Fans
The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise began with Gege Akutami’s hit dark fantasy manga, which initially launched in March 2018. The series was later adapted into a hit anime series by Studio MAPPA (Attack on Titan). JJK is set in a world where curses, or beings manifested from negative human emotions, run rampant. As Jujutsu sorcerers-in-training, the cursed energy experts at Jujutsu High work to protect humans from malevolent curses. Written as a prequel story, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 revolves around Yuta Okkotsu, a timid high school student who is frequently bullied. However, Jujutsu High instructor Satoru Gojo becomes interested in him when he realizes that Yuta is haunted by a powerful cursed spirit that attacks anyone who threatens him. In reality, the cursed spirit is actually Rika, a close friend of Yuta’s who died in a car accident. As children, the two made a pledge to get married and sealed the promise with an exchange of rings. Even after Rika’s morbid transformation, Yuta keeps the ring with him at all times.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie Was a Massive Success With Over $160 Million Worldwide
Yuta and Rika’s relationship is the emotional core of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Believing that Rika is unwillingly tethered to him, Yuta joins the student body of Jujutsu High to find a way to free her spirit. The story was adapted into a highly successful anime film, which has grossed over $166.7 million worldwide. After the heart-wrenching conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Yuta goes on to be a major ally to JJK‘s central protagonist Yuji Itadori, especially during the manga’s “Culling Game” story arc. Jujutsu Kaisen‘s upcoming sequel will cover the events of this arc, which revolves primarily around a high-stakes Jujutsu sorcerer battle royale staged by the villainous Kenjaku. While MAPPA has released a short teaser, it has not yet revealed a proper trailer or release window for the sequel.
